Leading Inpatient Addiction Treatment Programs
York Addiction & Mental Health is a leading addiction & detox treatment facility in Ontario. We are fully accredited with exemplary standing and use deeply researched treatment methods that have helped hundreds of clients reach recovery. We offer proven inpatient programming with 24/7 client care that features a team of fully certified addiction counsellors, psychotherapists, nurses, and doctors.
The programs are built to facilitate healing in live-in, structured environments in which clients can be removed from all triggers in their lives. Our programs are versatile for the specific needs of our clients.
We offer varied program lengths of 30, 45, 60, and 90 days. York Addiction & Mental Health is a place that individuals and their families can believe in. We have one goal in mind, and that is to make sure that each one of the clients who walks through our doors leaves with the skills, support systems, and tools for recovery to achieve long-term sobriety.
Treatment Plans Dedicated to Recovery
People come to detox and rehab for a variety of different reasons. In our experience, each individual deals with their own specific situations, and therefore each person requires a different treatment plan. At York Addiction & Mental Health, we create specialized and tailored treatment plans that support the specific needs of each client. No two clients will have the same experience under our care.
We start with full clinical assessments and then build a plan that is ready to be implemented immediately upon your arrival. Every plan comes with a variety of therapeutic modalities, services, and detox if required. The entire team works to make sure that clients diligently follow their treatment plans. Our counsellors, psychotherapists, and nurses work hand in hand to make sure clients are healing and growing towards recovery.
Complete Medical Safety for Detox and Addiction Recovery
As a part of our programs, we provide complete medical supervision for detox and withdrawal. For many clients, going through detox is the first step of treatment. Withdrawal from many substances can be extremely dangerous without proper medical oversight. When withdrawal is done at home, or without supervision, it drastically increases the medical risk. This is why York Addiction & Mental Health includes 24/7 on-site nursing and counselling for all clients undergoing detox, withdrawal, and recovery. Once detox is completed and most symptoms have passed, clients can transition into the full scope of our residential programs.
Medical Care Woven into Every Stage of Treatment
In addition to our comprehensive addiction treatment, we also recognize that mental health is a crucial component of the recovery journey. Every client receives a full psychiatric assessment and medical review. It occurs once you've been settled into the community and are stabilized. Assessments are completed so our team can understand the full scope of what our clients are dealing with. We identify co-occurring disorders, medical needs, and how to best treat each specific case we encounter. This ensures that clients are safe and ready to take their lives outside of treatment.
One-on-One Therapy with Expert Psychotherapists
Upon admission and the generation of our treatment plan, each client will be able to see our therapists. Our facility uses a wide range of therapeutic approaches and modalities. The psychotherapists on our team bring the therapeutic approaches that best support client recovery. The goal is to build each client's coping skills and prepare them to uphold long-term sobriety.
At York Addiction & Mental Health, our psychotherapists use the following modalities.
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)
- Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)
- Trauma Resiliency Model (TRM)
- Motivational Interviewing (MI)
- Rational-Emotive Behavioural Therapy (REBT)
Psychoeducational Groups: Recovery in a Welcoming Community
During addiction recovery, isolation is one of the worst things for healing. A person in recovery should be in an environment that surrounds them in safety, compassion, and comfort. Psychoeducational Group sessions are a vital piece of the recovery journey. At York Addiction & Mental Health, clients participate in 25 group sessions a week. All group sessions are facilitated by certified addiction counsellors, each of whom understands how to make a difference for our clients. During group sessions, clients are empowered to discuss several addiction and recovery topics in a space free of judgement. Core topics include:
- Relapse prevention and early-warning recognition
- Distress tolerance and emotional regulation
- Grief, loss, and identity after addiction
- Communication and boundary-setting skills
- Building healthy habits and relationships
- Steps along the recovery journey
Family Support: Help for Loved Ones
Addiction rarely affects one person alone, and recovery tends to hold better when the people around the client understand what has changed and why. At York Addiction & Mental Health, we give clients and their families the opportunity to take part in family support sessions during and beyond treatment. These sessions are designed to rebuild communication and address the impact of addiction, and how it has affected familial bonds and dynamics. We work to help families stop enabling and arm them with tools to help rebuild their loved one's lives.
Physical Wellness & Mindfulness During Recovery
Clinical work is a constant, but we recognize that healing requires the mind and body equally. At York Addiction & Mental Health, we integrate physical activity, mindfulness, creativity, and leisure time within our programs. Clients are given time to work out, decompress, and find pleasure in simple things, helping them relearn how to feel good and keep busy without the need of substances. This includes:
- Guided yoga, mindfulness, and meditation sessions
- Access to our fully equipped gym
- Access to outdoor spaces and activity rooms
- Participation in expressive art therapy options
Aftercare for Life: Continued Support Beyond Discharge
Treatment ending doesn't mean the support from York Addiction & Mental Health ends. We offer lifetime aftercare that each client who completes treatment has access to. Continued support is offered to our clients to help make sure that recovery lasts. This includes:
- One-on-One check-ins every month after discharge. (For the first 3 months)
- Access to a network of peers and professionals who are here to provide support
- Access to a weekly aftercare group led by therapists or counsellors
What Clients Carry with Them After Completing Treatment
When clients complete our treatment programs, they leave with much more than sobriety. Our programs change the foundations of how individuals think about their lives, and particularly their use of substances. Treatment allows clients to recognize the patterns that fed their addictions and the behaviours that lead to substance use. During the program, clients are provided with tools to manage themselves and cope in healthy ways. After completing treatment, many of our clients often experience the following:
- Clearer recognition of personal triggers and early-warning signs
- Practical tools for managing difficult emotions without defaulting to old coping patterns
- Stronger, more honest relationships with family and support systems
- A concrete relapse prevention and aftercare plan, not just good intentions
- Renewed physical health and energy
- A realistic, sustainable picture of what ongoing recovery looks like
